Day of Fishing:  Join your party for a day long adventure seeking king, silvers and pink salmon, halibut, ling cod, red snapper and other bottom dwellers.  Board your comfortable 25 ft aluminum cabin cruiser and take heed from your professional guide who knows the local waters, wildlife and coastlines.  Perfect for the novice and avid fisherman.  Don’t forget your camera and video.

Hike to the Waterfall:  Take the r/t 1.5 mile hike along the coast path past the refuse area, beach comb along the way and step up on to a wooden walkway to the waterfall itself.  You will pass a spawning stream that will be alive in late July through August.  You will most likely spot a few our resident black bears

Wildlife Viewing:  Either from your boat, around the resort or hiking to the waterfall.  The marine life is bountiful; whales, Orcas, seabirds of all kinds, seals, sea lions (a couple of rookeries) and of all types of fish.  On land, black bears, deer, and smaller creatures scurry the land.  Eagles are forever….whether you are cruising on your boat or walking around the resort.

Historic Waterfall Cannery:  Established in 1912, the cannery will be celebrating its 100 year Anniversary in 2012.  In the early 1900’s Waterfall Cannery was the largest salmon packing plant in Alaska.  Salmon were caught in fish traps or aboard seiners and cured in a light brine before being packed in handmade cans and shipped around the world.
For over 30 years Waterfall was owned by the Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, you may remember them as A & P Stores.  In 1970, after a glorious fish processing history, the cannery closed. In 1983, the cannery was re-invented as Waterfall Resort, a unique Mecca for sportfishing and wildlife.  In 2012, Waterfall Resort will also celebrate its 30th anniversary and play host to 2,000 guests in the summer season.

Nature:  What can you say about nature…some believe it was born and they named it Alaska.

Google Prince of Wales Island.  You will find that it is the 3rd largest island in the US.  Do you know which US islands are first and second?  One hint, both are in the 49th and 50th states.

On your visit to Waterfall you will be remote, removed from roads and signs.  Nature is your four-seasons map.  Enjoy picking berries next to the General Store.  Sit and watch as salmon swirl around the small creek bed as destiny sets in.  Marvel at the towering cedars, spruce and hemlocks where eagles perch on the highest limb.  Take that micro-photo of the Forget-me-not… the Alaska state flower.

Nature is many things… and everything Alaska.
