Walking and Hiking Trails: 


Liscombe Lodge & Resort offers a variety of walking and hiking trails complete with interpretive signage along the way

Liscombe River Trail (length 9.6km):  Type of trail: Hiking

Trail surface: mostly natural growth, narrow with rocks, tree stumps to cross

There is much natural beauty to enjoy along the rugged 9.6 km trail. Enjoy the sound of the water rushing over rocks or the warmth of the sunshine while sitting on a boulder left by ancient glaciers. The trail includes a suspension bridge that overlooks a waterfall. Nearby is a fish ladder that was constructed around the falls to help restock Atlantic salmon. The ladder is formed by 15 pools separated by concrete weirs. The salmon runs in the Liscombe River begin the first two weeks in June and end in late October. The peak is in July before the water gets too warm.



Mayflower Trail (length 2.9 km): Type of trail: Hiking
Trail surface: mostly natural material -narrow path with rocks, fallen trees, moist, grassy areas to traverse.
The Mayflower Trail is a rugged coastal hiking trail that winds along the mouth of the Liscombe River. Scenic lookouts exist on the trail and there are many opportunities to view flora and fauna of Nova Scotia.



Woodpecker and Prospector Trails (length approximately 400 meters): Type of Trail: Walking
These trails consist mainly of crushed gravel surfaces through wooded areas of Liscombe Lodge property. Interpretive signage is included that focus on the natural and cultural history of the region.

Guided Nature Hike

Let our nature enthusiasts take you on a Nova Scotia adventure into the outback of the Liscombe River Trail. Learn local history, get up close to the intriguing plants and vegetation that grows in Nova Scotia. The Eastern Shore is a bird watching paradise. At Liscombe Lodge, many opportunities exist to view several bird species, such as, finches, chickadees, blue jays, robins, starlings, woodpeckers, juncos, and more. Eagles and Osprey also make their homes in the area. Guests may also catch sight of groundhogs, red squirrels, hares, and otter that reside in the area.

Kid's Adventure Camp Out:  Kids can partake in their own adventures at Liscombe Lodge & Resort. Be ready for an evening of bonfire, stories, water games, a campfire cookout and much, much, more. Don't forget your sleeping bag because the tents will be set up for when you get tired!  Small fee required.
