On Peninsula Lake in Muskoka, Ontario, Deerhurst offers a legendary Canadian wilderness experience.

Waterskiing/Wakeboarding & Lessons - Learn to wakeboard, surf, ski, tube or just soak up the sun. Groups can book a one hour or full day private session.

Sailboat Rentals & Lessons (Hobie Cat Waves).

Fishing Gear Rentals & Licenses - Take out an EZ Cat and try your luck catching Northern Pike and Lake Trout. Fishing Licenses are mandatory in Ontario and require photo identification.

Splash Zone(open in July and August) - An inflatable waterpark on the lake features everything from bouncing trampolines to climbing walls, slides and even a chance to 'walk the plank.' Try out Space Mountain, do the Moon Walk or climb a 14 ft, "Iceberg." There's a pint-size play area for children and a larger layout for the older kids and kids at heart.

Horsing Around - Visit the stables at Deerhurst and take part in one of their many activities. Adults will enjoy an hour long trail along shady trails into the highlands behind the resort. Little ones will enjoy "Kids 'n Ponies" or "Kids , a 45 minute interactive and fun adventure in the barnyard with ponies and other barnyard animals. And everyone will love Pony Carting or relaxing during a 30 minute horse-drawn carriage ride. (Note: Available on select dates throughout summer and fall. Subject to weather conditions.)

Hiking or Biking - Featuring new Bionx Bicycles - Want to explore the area at a gentle pace? Pick up a hiking or biking map and explore the countryside around the resort. Rent a pedal power assist Bionx Bicycle, used by the Canadian Winter Olympian Athletes in the Olympic Village. Classic mountain bike rentals also available.

A “Hummer” of a Tour - The Hummer H1 can plow along tilted sideways at a 40-degree angle without rolling over, and can climb up and down a hillside with a 60-degree slope. Those go-anywhere capabilities are showcased on a thrilling ride with a professional driver behind the wheel.

Ready, Aim, Paintball - For a vigorous mental challenge and outdoor physical activity in the woods, paintball is North America’s fastest-growing action game. No experience is needed and all the gear (paint gun, paintballs and protective pullover) is provided by our onsite supplier MJD Paintball Inc. Just bring your sense of adventure.

Rock Buggy Tours - New for Summer 2010! Drive a buggy on an exciting but safe off-road adventure through our challenging backwoods. Equipped with roll cages, seatbelts, goggles and helmets for your safety, rock buggies are similar to a regular car, and have a steering wheel, brake and gas pedal. Put the key in the ignition, however, and the comparison ends! Grrrrrr! (Note: Available on select dates throughout summer. Subject to weather conditions.)

Algonquin Park Canoe Adventure - Take a guided canoe tour on Canoe Lake in Algonquin Park, made famous by the Group of Seven painters, and known the world over for its scenic wilderness. Half day trips include a guide, transportation, canoe rental, equipment, and snack. (Note: Available on select dates in summer. Subject to weather conditions.)

Algonquin Park Hiking Trips - Immerse yourself in old growth forest, fascinating wilderness and the history of Algonquin Park on half-day guided hikes on select days throughout the summer. Be sure to bring your camera - both the views and wildlife are abundant. Includes guide, transportation, and snack. (Note: Available on select dates in summer. Subject to weather conditions.)

Buckwallow Biking Adventures - Take a guided mountain bike tour through the beautiful Buckwallow Cycle Centre. This guided half-day tour will enable riders of all levels to enjoy an incredible time on 20km of trails. Includes guide, bicycle rental, equipment, transportation, and snack. 

Adult Dog-Sled Rides - Experience the Arctic thrill of dog-sledding with guides from Hidden Meadow Farm. (Please note: The dogs take Mondays & Tuesdays off for a well earned rest.)

Kids' Chili-Doggin - During long weekends and school breaks, kids can try mushing with pint-size sleds and dogs.  

Winter Trail Rides - Saddle up for a scenic, silent ride on horseback through snowy, wooded trails. (Please note: The horses take their day off on Wednesdays.)

Kids’n Ponies & Kids'n Critters - During long weekends and school holidays, the Kids 'n Ponies program introduces children to tack fitting and grooming, while the Kids' n Critters program allows even the youngest children to explore the barnyard.

 

Horse-Drawn Sleigh & Carriage Rides - Climb aboard for an old-fashioned ride, with the rhythm of the horses rocking you back to an era gone by. Sleigh rides -- with lots of hay to sit on -- are ideal for larger groups, while carriage rides can seat up to two adults and two children comfortably. Available weekends and during school breaks.

Snowshoeing / X-C Skiing / Ice-Skating - Equipment rentals are available. Guests enjoy complimentary use of Deerhurst’s onsite trails, outdoor rinks and tubing hill. For even more variety, excellent snowshoe and x-c ski trails are maintained at nearby Arrowhead Provincial Park and Algonquin Provincial Park.

Snowmobiling - Deerhurst is the perfect starting and stopping point for over 2,000 km of diverse, groomed snowmobiling trails in Muskoka alone. We're located right on the Trans Ontario Provincial (TOP) trail system which connects the entire province. Locked overnight sled parking, premium fuel, trail maps, permits, and rentals with nearby supplier B.M. Snowmobiles are all available.

Downhill Skiing/Snowboarding - Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area, located next door to Deerhurst, takes pride in its friendly atmosphere and short line-ups. With 12 slopes, 3 quad chair lifts, and a handle bar tow, it is an ideal location for families and for those who want to learn. Deerhurst guests enjoy discounted lift tickets at our Winter Sports Shop. (Please Note: From 20 March 2011 onwards, Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area is closed for the season.)

Winter Hummer Tours - Take a ride on the wild side in the world's most capable vehicle, specially outfitted for snow travel and fueled by biodeisel made from recycled cooking oil. You’ll traverse seemingly impassable terrain with an expert driver from ERA Tours.

Snow Tubing - Hop on a complimentary tube at Deerhurst’s hill, or enjoy discounted lift tickets at Huntsville’s Rock Ridge Recreation Park, with 6 runs, a tow lift and snack shop.

Other Activities Include: Indoor swimming pool, Whirlpool, Children's wading pool, Fitness room (cardio equipment, free weights, free motion equipment) and Tennis (two indoor hard courts and five outdoor - three are night lit).
